Global edition of ‘We Got Married’ in the works

On August 6th, it was revealed by MBC TV that Sony Pictures Entertainment Networks Asia has submitted a proposal regarding the production and broadcast of a global edition of MBC variety program ‘We Got Married’.

MBC TV revealed that Sony Pictures Entertainment Networks Asia had submitted their proposal during a meeting in Singapore on July 18th. If everything goes as planned, the global edition of ‘We Got Married’ will be produced by MBC and broadcast through Sony Network globally in over 41 countries like China, Taiwan, India, Australia and many more.

The global edition will follow the same format as the Korean version, with the casting of a male and female celebrity as a ‘married’ couple as they go through what married couples do in real life.

Each season of the global edition will have 12 - 15 episodes and will also be broadcast over the internet with Sony Network.

Unlike the Korean version of ‘We Got Married’ which leaned heavily towards Korean culture, the global edition will reflect different social and cultural aspects from all over the world, to make for a more diverse variety program.

There was a China version of ‘We Got Married’ which aired earlier this year on Valentine’s Day to commemorate 20 years of China-Korea relations and earned rave reviews from viewers.

The global edition of ‘We Got Married’ will air within this year or spring of 2013.
