T-ara’s appearance at ‘K-pop Yeosu Expo Super Concert’ canceled

allthatkpops previously reported that T-ara would temporarily halt scheduling future events, and that the SBS ‘K-pop Yeosu Expo Super Concert‘ on August 1st was the last official event scheduled on their books.

It’s now being reported that T-ara’s special performance at the concert has been canceled. Core Contents Media announced on July 31st at 6:25PM KST: “About 30, 40 minutes ago, due to a variety of reasons, the upcoming concert appearance has been canceled. We’ve finished [consulting] with the producers.”

The performance would have been the group’s first after member Hwayoung‘s leave, and the agency decided that due to the public’s reaction, it would be best for T-ara not to participate in the event.

Furthermore, T-ara will not be appearing on this week’s music programs.

T-ara’s largest fan community to shut down

The largest online fan community for T-ara, t-arafan.com, announced that it will be shutting down their site on August 15th KST.

The fan cafe has received over 4 million cumulative visitors, and is the largest gathering of T-ara fans in the world.

The cafe operator posted: “I have decided to shut down the fan site. Since it was my first time running a fan cafe, I’m sure [it wasn't perfect], and I want to thank all the members who have participated. I hope we can meet again if fate allows.”

The fan cafe will be shutting down on August 15, one day after T-ara’s scheduled comeback on August 14.

HaHa admits he ‘lived like a crazy person’ after breakup

HaHa discussed his last breakup during a recent interview.

On July 30th, Skull&HaHa held a showcase and press interview for the release of their mini-album, ‘YA MAN‘.

HaHa told the press, “Even at the age of 34 (Korean age), I’m still being called a ‘kid’ or ‘Haroro’. But if you really get to know me, I am quite scandalous.” He then added, “Truthfully, after my breakup, I lived like a [crazy person].”

The reason for HaHa’s sudden mention of his past was to highlight an emotional track called “HENESSY 19“. The song was written based on HaHa’s relationship and Skull, who co-produced the song with HaHa, explained, “We drank and produced for two weeks, while talking about HaHa’s past girlfriend.”

‘HENESSY 19′ illustrates the bold and truthful story of a man, and the sullen emotions of the song are brought out by the orchestra instrumentals. The hidden message behind the title is another fun mystery to solve.

The mini-album ‘YA MAN’ holds two title tracks, ‘Busan Vacance‘ and ‘Wikiki Brothers‘. ‘Busan Vancance’ is a track with elements of reggae, electronica, and a touch of dubstep, introducing refreshing instrumentals with a dynamic crossover in one song. The song also highlights the traditional reggae sound of Skull. In contrast, “Wikiki Brothers” has a highly addictive rhythmical groove.

Park Min Young Prepares for Last Shoot for ‘Dr. Jin’

Park Min Young revealed how she looks while she prepares to go back to the past for Dr. Jin.

The actress tweeted on July 31, ‘I’m putting up my hair for what may be the last time as Young Rae. Kisses for the Dr. Jin stylist team, my pretty and nice Innie unni (big sister), cutie Seul Gi and pure Jung Mi.’



The photo shows Park Min Young being made up to become ‘Miss Young Rae’. She’s already finished receiving her facial makeup, and the staff is preparing to braid her hair. Park Min Young herself is posing for the camera with round eyes and puckered lips.

Netizens who saw the photo replied, ‘You’re like a bunny’, ‘Stay strong to the end’ and ‘I’m curious as to how Dr. Jin will end.’

The July 29 broadcast of MBC’s Dr. Jin showed Jin Hyuk (Song Seung Hun) in danger of being murdered when a group that learned he’s from the future uses Kim Kyung Tak (Kim Jae Joong) to try to kill him.

‘Haeundae Lovers’ Releases Two Humorous Main Posters

KBS released two new main posters for its upcoming drama Haeundae Lovers on July 31.

The first poster shows the drama’s full main cast on a boat. While the two leads, Kim Kang Woo and Jo Yeo Jeong, do the infamous ‘Titanic pose’ on the boat’s bow, the rest of the cast members can be seen in various humorous poses including fighting to take over the boat’s helm, drinking soju and slipping overboard.




The second poster also is done in a humorous fashion with Jo Yeo Jeong’s hauling up a fishing net with fish and Kim Kang Woo in a suit. On the poster is written, “Love caught coolly!”





A drama production staff shared, “The merits of Haeundae Lovers, which will bring refreshing laughter and amusement during this hot summer, are the drama’s characters who will grab the hearts of viewers in a new way. As the two posters show, the drama’s entire atmosphere is not solely a romantic comedy that will tell a love story. We ask viewers for your support and views.”

Haeundae Lovers will premiere on KBS on August 6.

Lee Joon Gi is Putting His All into ′Arang and the Magistrate′

New drama still cuts of Lee Joon Gi were released on July 30 for his upcoming MBC drama Arang and the Magistrate.

Playing magistrate Eun Oh, who has the ability to see ghosts, the images show Lee Joon Gi in blue hanbok complete with a gat, a traditional hat worn by men in the Joseon Dynasty.




A member of the drama’s production shared, “As it is Lee Joon Gi’s first production after being discharged from his military duties, he is putting all his energy into the production. Even in the short breaks in between, he immerses himself in the script and is showing a wide range of acting.”

Arang and the Magistrate premieres on August 15 on MBC.

BIG STAR holds first fan signing event

On July 29th, rookie idol group BIG STAR held their first fan signing ever at the ‘Music and Plus’ record store in the Hyundai Mall.

Currently on the rise with their “Hot Boy” debut, fans had been requesting for an opportunity to get close and personal with the boys for a while now. Fortunately, the boys were able to set aside their busy debut promotions and comply with the requests.

In contrast to their charismatic images on stage, the boys greeted their fans with bright, cheery smiles and made sure everyone had a memorable time.

Brave Entertainment shared pictures from the event with allthatkpops and commented, “We prepared this fan signing specially for the fans who had been requesting it. Starting with Seoul, we’ll be planning plenty of opportunities for fans to meet the boys.”

The fan signing and mini events will continue on to Busan on August 1st and Uijungbu on the 5th KST.

Which girl group idols speak in dialects the most?

A recent online community board post titled, “Girl group speaking in dialect” has been receiving attention.

The post ranked current girl group idols based on how much they spoke in a nonstandard, regional accent. The top level included After School‘s Lizzy,  A Pink‘s Eunji, and Dal Shabet‘s Subin.

The author wrote about Lizzy, “Gets loved for speaking in dialect on talk shows. Captured all the male fans with her aegyo-filled dialect.” For Eunji, the author wrote, “Currently rising star in dialect,” and for Subin: “Urban visual, but mouth is country.”

The middle level consisted of f(x)‘s Sulli and SECRET‘s Sunhwa. The author explained for Sulli, “Occasionally speaks in dialect for TV. Intelligent for knowing how to use the male hearts that go crazy for dialect,” and for Sunhwa: “Dialect pops up during conversations or when she gets flustered.”

Girls’ Generation‘s Taeyeon and T-ara‘s Hyomin were placed in the lower level because they are both from provinces that use a nonstandard accent, but they rarely speak in dialect.

After viewing the post, netizens commented, “Lizzy is the most charming,” “Who’s the girl with Gangnam style visuals and speaks in dialect,” and “Dialect equals Lizzy, Subin, and Eunji.”

SHINee Key Spotted Shopping for Taemin′s Birthday Present

Pinpointed as a fashion icon, SHINee’s Key exhibited his unique fashion style while shopping in Garosugil in Sinsa.

On July 25, clothing brand MAGnMAG uploaded photos of SHINee’s Key onto its twitter.

It tweeted, “SHINee’s Key who made a surprise visit to our MAGnMag store in Garosugil! Just like a fashionista he only picked very unique items. Just seeing him makes us happy.”




A new tweet came up on July 26 with more pictures, saying, “Here are more pictures we didn’t upload of SHINEE’s Key. It seems that he was buying Taemin’s birthday present too. Aside from clothes, he also carefully picked out some lifestyle items as well!”

In related news, SHINee completed its second exclusive concert, SHINee World II in Seoul and wil head to Taipei, Singapore, and other countries to continues its tour.

SISTAR’s Dasom Becomes a High School Student In Her New Sitcom Role

New preview images of SISTAR′s Dasom in uniform were released on July 31 by KBS for the upcoming sitcom Shut Up Family.

As Dasom was born in 1993, it hasn′t been that long since the singer last wore her real high school uniform, and as such, she looks like a real high school students in the preview cuts.




In the sitcom, Dasom plays an angel-faced high school student who is first in academics in her school but is a bit of a delinquent.

Shut Up Family premieres on KBS on August 13.

Jung Il Woo to Inaugurate Official Fanclub in Japan

Jung Il Woo will be founding an official fanclub in Japan with the help of Japan’s Hakuhodo Casting & Entertainment, an ad casting company owned by the country’s biggest PR firm, Hakuhodo DY Group.

Hakuhodo Casting & Entertainment will be looking over the general management of the fanclub as well as the support of Jung Il Woo’s activities in Japan.



The company boasts a broad infrastructure and much experience in marketing and systems in Japan, and using these resources, it aims to help Jung Il Woo by satisfying his fanclub with systematic management and services.

Jung Il Woo recently stepped up as a hallyu star in Greater China after becoming the first Korean actor to attend China’s Huading Awards, and has become big in Japan through Flower Boy Ramen Shop, which aired on TBS.

The actor plans to continue concentrating his efforts on promoting in Japan.

Jang Nara to Release Her First Chinese Album in Seven Years

Jang Nara is making her music and big screen comeback in China.

On August 21, Jang Nara’s Chinese movie Flying With You will premiere in China. This will be her first lead role in a Chinese movie, and the actress spoke all her lines in Mandarin and shot her own action scenes.




In addition to the release of her movie, Jang Nara will release her first Chinese album in seven years on August 2. Journey of Love is her fourth album in China and comes seven years after her 2005 album Kung Fu.

The new album will contain a total of 10 tracks including Flying With You’s theme song Zhi Xiang Qi Ni which is the Chinese version of her Korean single I Only Think of You released in March.

SHINee’s Minho Shines as a Gold Medalist

While he′s not participating in the 2012 London Olympics, SHINee’s Minho received a gold medal in SBS’ upcoming drama To the Beautiful You

On July 31, released photos showed Minho, who is acting as Kang Tae Jun in To the Beautiful You, winning the gold after participating in the high jump event at the Junior World Championships.




For the filming that took place, Minho endured the sweltering heat and continued to showcase impressive jumps and athletic ability for his character.

Known for his incredibly competitive side, Minho rejoiced as if it was a real event every time he jumped over the pole.

A drama staff member said, “Minho is currently living as Kang Tae Jun,” and added “He’s doing his best to perfectly portray the high-jump athlete that Tae Jung is. Please look forward to Minho as he dreams to become the best high jump athlete in this drama.

To the Beautiful You will premiere on SBS on August 15.

T-ara to temporarily halt scheduling future events?

It seems we will not be seeing much of T-ara until their next comeback.

It’s been reported that T-ara’s performance at the SBS ‘K-POP Yeosu Expo Super Concert’ on August 1st is the last official event scheduled on their books for the time being.

On July 31st, T-ara’s associate revealed, “We didn’t plan any schedules because they are going into preparations for a follow-up song,” while also adding, “We have not made any definite decisions on the temporary halting of their schedules.”

Currently, it has been reported that T-ara has been canceling their planned schedules and avoiding appearances at formal events. As reported earlier, there were plans for member Eunjung to attend the VIP screening of ‘I Am the King‘, but she ended up not showing up for the event.

It looks like it will be a while before we get to see T-ara as they wait for this storm to pass while preparing for their next comeback.

Tony An reveals he has no plans to marry anytime soon

Tony An of old-school idol group H.O.T revealed he had no plans to get married anytime soon.

During the July 30th broadcast of SBS E!‘s ’TV Cultwo Show‘, Tony discussed living with his current roomate, Kim Jae Duk of Sechkies. The two members of the “rival” groups got to know each other during their time in the military.

When asked whether there were any problems living with Kim Jae Duk, Tony replied, “He’s like a mother and always fills the refrigerator with food. He also leaves notes telling me to cheer up. It’s really moving.”

Tony also commented on the H.O.T members’ plans for marriage. He stated, “I don’t have any plans yet. Jang Woo Hyuk doesn’t want to get married at all.”

'Golden Time' Lee Sung Min leads a major surgery all by himself

Lee Sung Min came into the surgery.

On 30th, the new episode of MBC drama 'Golden Time' showed Choi In Hyuk(Lee Sung Min) and Ji Han Koo(Jeong Suk Yong) witnessing a traffic accident.

Choi In Hyuk headed to play billiards as Ji Han Koo came, and they enjoyed a great time together.

Choi In Hyuk, who was walking back home alone, heard a traffic accident, and he saw a people down.

Choi In Hyuk called the ambulance, and went to the hospital together.

As the emergency crews weren't sure which hospital to go, Choi In Hyuk said, "Go to Sejoong Hospital," and called the hospital to prepare for a surgery.

Shin Eun Ah(Song Sun Mi) told Lee Min Woo(Lee Sun Gyun) and Kang Jae In(Hwang Jung Eum) to prepare for surgery, and Lee Min Woo had to beg other doctors for an empty surgery room.

As Choi In Hyuk arrived at the hospital, he checked the patient thoroughly, and everything was done quickly and precisely.

However, nobody was there to operate the surgery, and Ji Han Koo and Choi In Hyuk decided to operate it by themselves.

Choi In Hyuk started the surgery, and led it with his great charisma.

To commemorate actor Lee Jong Hyuk’s birthday, the production crew of A Gentleman’s Dignity planned a surprise birthday party for the actor. With shooting going well into the night, as soon as the clock struck midnight, the crew members brought out a cake and wished the actor a happy birthday.




With two separate teams shooting for the drama in different locations, not all of the other cast and crew members were present but the actor received a flood of congratulatory text messages on his phone from the other team′s members.

Lee Jong Hyuk thanked the production members for their well wishes and shared, “The best present I received for this birthday was being with all of you guys from A Gentleman’s Dignity.”

‘May Queen’ Treads Carefully Around ‘Five Fingers’ Decision to Stay with T-ara and Joo Ji Hoon

The producers of MBC’s upcoming drama May Queen have been trying to tread carefully around the casting controversies surrounding its competitor, SBS’ Five Fingers.

Five Fingers was originally brought under fire for casting Joo Ji Hoon, who had previously been involved in a drug scandal, but most recently it got a beating for staying with the decision to cast T-ara’s Eun Jung even after the Hwa Young and T-ara outcast controversy sprang up.



A rep from May Queen’s production company said, “[The casting decisions] are being debated among the viewers, so we can’t really state our own opinion. We believe that the controversies could draw more attention to us or less attention to us. We only wish to compete with the quality and content of our piece.”

On the disadvantage it faces due to the fact that its predecessor Dr. Jin falls behind A Gentleman’s Dignity in viewership ratings, Five Fingers’ predecessor, the rep added, “Some point out that we’ll be at a disadvantage because of the ratings we’ll be left with, but we don’t really care much for that. It’s enough that we have a tight-knit story and attractive characters. T-ara’s Largest Fan Site Announces Its Closure

T-ara’s largest fan site has announced its closure.

On July 30, T-ara’s largest fan site, T-ara dot com, announced on its homepage it would cease operations.

Titled, ‘T-ara Dot Com Will End Operations,” the fan site’s operator wrote, “Hello, this is the administrator. The fan site will cease operations. As it was my first time overseeing a fan site, there was a lot of things I lacked and I want to thank all the members for their hard work. If it is destined, I hope we will meet again. Thank you. Site operation closure date: August 15.”





T-ara Dot Com is T-ara’s largest fan site and has accumulated over four million views so far. According to the site’s members, the operator of the site experienced a huge shock from the T-ara controversy and began feeling growing pessimism over the situation.

The shut down date of the site, August 15, comes one day after T-ara’s originally scheduled comeback date of August 14.

B1A4 Has its First Vacation in Three Years

B1A4 is enjoying some sweet time off.

Holding their first vacation in three years, fans have revealed pictures and sightings of the B1A4 members in various parts of Korea including Cheongju, Choongju, Busan and more.

According to B1A4’s WM Entertainment, counting the group’s trainee years, the group hasn′t had a holiday in the last three years as they have performed, recorded and practiced nonstop.

An agency rep shared, “After Gong Chan’s surgery he went down to his hometown to rest and the other members decided to re-energize themselves through their first vacation as well.”




And after being together for three years, the members seemed to find it strange not being with each other as the members tweeted their affection for each other.

Jin Young was seen recently tweeting, “Eating out with my family~ delicious samgyubsal! What was your dinner Bana?”

To which Gong Chan responded, “Hyung! I’m eating chicken while watching judo. I miss you hyungs!”

While CNU replied, “Is your health all right doggie? Eat a lot of delicious things and don’t just eat anything. I miss you too.”

Kim Hyung Jun to Embark on His Second Nation-Wide Tour of Japan

Kim Hyung Jun will tour Japan once more.

After successfully holding his first nation-wide Japan tour, Kim Hyung Jun 2012 1st Story in Japan, in March and April, the singer will embark on his second Japan tour as part of the release of his new mini album Escape.

Escape comes a year and four months after the release of My Girl in Japan and showcases the singer’s growth and maturity.




Kim Hyung Jun will depart to Japan on August 1 and beginning on August 3 through the 26, the singer will travel through Tokyo, Fukuoka, Osaka, Nagoya and Sapporo for a total of nine concerts.

He will be performing at every ZEPP performance venue in Japan for this nation-wide tour.

Escape will be released in Japan on August 8.

Reddit and Gawker Rave about Psy′s ′Gangnam Style′

If you are a fervent internet user, you’ve probably heard of Reddit and Gawker, which are US-based social news and gossip websites that are known for only featuring the internet’s most popular and worth-while media contents.

Well, it seems that Psy is taking the internet by storm, confidently landing on Reddit and Gawker.

A Reddit user submitted Psy’s Gangnam Style music video on the social website, saying, “Words cannot even describe how amazing this video is.”




With around 1000 comments, the Gangnam Style post on Reddit received more than 1700 up votes, showing that its users really enjoyed or found it interesting, and the video was posted on Reddit 70 times.

Likewise, on July 30, Gawker wrote up an article about the music video saying, ‘Did This Underground Hip Hop Artist from South Korea Just Release the Best Music Video of the Year?’

While Psy is not exactly an underground hip hop artist, the fact that his newest music video landed on one of Gawker’s pages proved to be a great feat for K-Pop as Gawker is one of most popular media blogs on the internet.

Big Bang has also made it onto Gawker awhile back, when the group was promoting Bad Boy.

CN Blue Releases Brand Song for T.G.I.Friday’s, ‘Friday’

CN Blue released its brand song Friday for the restaurant chain T.G.I.Friday’s.

Friday was composed and lyricized by Jung Yong Hwa, who has been recognized for his talent as a singer, actor, producer and composer, and invites its listeners to travel to a joyous place where they can enjoy fun Fridays every day. Its keywords include cocktails, parties, romance, freedom and fun.



A rep from the restaurant brand said about Friday, “A fitting brand song that will help T.G.I.Friday’s build a positive image as a joyful location of Fridays has been born. The restaurant is all about casual dining, so CN Blue’s brand song Friday will match the restaurant perfectly.”

CN Blue has also been trying out bartender roles through the special reality program It City – CN Blue’s Love On Party on the O’live channel.

Scenes from the Love On Party, which took place at a T.G.I.Friday’s, also appear in the music video for Friday.

After School conquers Japan

After School, who recently finished their promotion in Korea, will be getting more active in Japan as both singers and models.

On 31st, After School's agency, Pledis Entertainment announced that After School will be appearing on The 2nd Tokyo Girls Collection in Nagoya 2012', which is taking place on September 1st.

After School's NaNa, who has been traveling Korea and Japan back and forth, is currently appearing on fashion program 'Tokyo Brandnew Girls', and she also will be appearing on 'A-Nation MusicWeek Collection supported by GirlsAward'.

Furthermore, After School was recently chosen as the advertisement models of 'Samantha Thavasa', and drew attention of fashion industry.

T-ara’s Ham Eun Jung Image Dropped From Daewoo Securities’ Advertisements

As the T-ara-Hwa Young scandal continues to brew, member Ham Eun Jung is arguably dealing with the brunt of the issue.

With businesses continuing to monitor the T-ara situation and contemplating their current endorsings by T-ara and its members, Daewoo Securities has responded to the controversy by dropping Ham Eun Jung’s images from their promotions.

Ham Eun Jung’s promotional images were quietly removed from Daewoo Securities operations and the company plans to not shoot any more television commercials featuring the T-ara member.




On the company’s reason for the dropping of Ham Eun Jung, the company stated, “There are some not so good stories about T-ara and so we decided to change our advertisement image.”

The company however, does not plan to cancel the contract with Ham Eun Jung which is slated to end in September.

B2ST To Become Super Heroes in Comic Book Series

The B2ST members are about to become animated.

On August 22, a new comic series starring the group B2ST will be released.

Titled, The Beast, the comic book series will focus on the friendship and adventures of the B2ST members and will be written by famed comic book writer Kim Hye Jin as well as drama scenario writer Kim Hak Boon. The action-fantasy series will feature the B2ST members as superheroes with supernatural powers.




The first volume will be released on August 22 with a total of six volumes planned for the series. The comic book series is also planned to be released abroad as well, with future plans to also create an animation series and game.
