‘The Thieves’ to Reach 3 Million on July 30; Another Record Broken

The Thieves broke through 2 million just four days after its premiere, and reached 2.8 million in five.

According to the Korean Film Council′s Compiled Ticket Computer Network on July 30, The Thieves sold 751,039 tickets on July 29, staying at the top of the Korean Box Office. Total ticket sales stood at 2,866,872 that day, meaning that on July 30, just six days after its premiere, it will definitely pass the 3 million mark.

Reaching 2.8 million in just five days breaks the biggest weekend record in Korean film history, which was previously held by the 2007 film D-War, and is the biggest record set since the Korean Film Council started taking records.

The Dark Knight Rises, on the other hand, is slowly petering down. On the same day it gathered a mere 331,606 moviegoers. It stepped up to no. 2 in the box office with a total of 4,256,326, but it’s falling behind more and more as its daily gap with The Thieves slowly widens.

Ice Age 4: Continental Drift, Scary Story and Detective Conan : The Eleventh Striker followed at no. 3, 4 and 5.
